The Golden Door

When artist Anita Revel found this arched door in a salvage yard in Perth, she knew it would make a very special backdrop for wedding ceremonies and photo shoots. She put on her artist cap, and got to work transforming it into a stunning feature on one of the Marriage Office’s walls.

A doorway in a wedding ceremony, represents a transition, threshold, or gateway. When a couple steps across the threshold, it symbolises moving from one stage of life to another — from being single people to a united couple embarking on their marriage with a sense of hope and adventure.

But a door that has been arted, that’s elevating the luck!

So Anita spent many days gold-leafing the door itself, adding copperleaf highlights around the trim. To finish off the ceremony space, she copper-leafed the entire wall to the ceiling.

Gold has been considered a symbol of good luck and prosperity in wedding ceremonies across various cultures for centuries.

Its significance stems from its physical properties, cultural associations, and historical value. As a precious metal that has long been associated with wealth, abundance, and success, it promises couples a prosperous and flourishing married life.

As for copper, copper has a warm, reddish hue, symbolising life, vitality, and love. These qualities align perfectly with the themes of passion and warmth in a marriage.

Further, copper is an excellent conductor of energy and is often associated with the flow of positive energy. In weddings, it is believed to channel blessings and good fortune to the couple.

So to marry in front of this golden door, is a choice to ensure a safe, prosperous and blessed start to the marriage.

Plus, it’s sooooo pretty! And it looks GREAT in photos!
